About,
Suzanne Koch Eckenrode
With more than twenty-five years of experience as a licensed therapist, I bring both professional expertise and a deep understanding of what it means to struggle and to heal. My approach combines evidence-based methods, intuition, genuine warmth and humor to help you move through pain, rediscover your strength, and create meaningful, lasting change.

I specialize in betrayal trauma, gambling addiction, depression, anxiety, and couples therapy. Over the years, I’ve helped countless clients find relief from emotional pain, addiction and destructive relationship patterns—supporting them in finding their authentic selves and building big lives grounded in peace, purpose, and connection.

How I Help
No matter what brings you here—whether you’re healing from betrayal, addiction, or trauma, or struggling with anxiety, depression, or relationship challenges—you don’t have to face it alone. Together, we’ll help you find your way forward.

I offer a caring, supportive space where you can be honest, feel seen in a way that gets to the root of the issue. My approach is compassionate and straightforward—I’ll listen deeply, help you recognize the patterns that keep you stuck, and guide you toward healthier ways of being and relating.

In therapy, you’ll process what’s been painful and entrapping, rediscover your authentic self, and build the courage and confidence to create real, lasting change.

My goal isn’t just to help you feel better—it’s to help you live better, with more peace, clarity, and connection to yourself and the people who matter most.
Personal Note
I’m not just a therapist—I’m someone who has lived the experiences I now help others heal from. As a trauma therapist, I know the pain of betrayal, the grip of addiction, and the deep loneliness that can come with both. I also know that within every struggle lies the possibility for healing, growth, and profound transformation.

My own recovery journey taught me that healing happens with willingness, honesty, and the right support. The road hasn’t been easy or straightforward, but I wouldn’t change it. Every challenge has deepened my compassion, strengthened my belief in the human ability to rebuild, and shaped who I am—both as a person and a healer.
I’ve learned that real change often begins with pain, and when we face it with courage and compassion, we come out the other side stronger, wiser, and more connected—to ourselves and to others.

Today, I help individuals and couples heal from trauma and addiction, rebuild trust after betrayal, and find their way back to safety, self-confidence, and authentic connection. Therapy isn’t just my work—it’s my purpose and my calling.
Outside of my practice, I find balance and joy through ocean swimming, yoga, exploring, travel, and spending time with friends, family and my precious pup.
Through an EMDR Lens
I use Attachment-Focused EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)—a gentle, effective, and evidence-based approach to healing trauma, addictions, painful emotional states and limiting self-beliefs.

This powerful method helps your brain reprocess distressing experiences, ease emotional pain, and replace deeply held negative beliefs with more empowering, life-affirming ones—while meeting your attachment needs that may have gone unfulfilled.

EMDR activates your brain’s natural healing ability, allowing you to move beyond painful, “stuck” memories and develop new, healthier emotional responses. As old wounds and survival strategies lose their grip, you begin to experience greater clarity, resilience, and freedom—to live a life that feels authentic, grounded, and whole.

Through this process, your past no longer holds power over you. While your experiences remain part of your story, they no longer define who you are. The constant self-criticism softens, making room for inner peace, confidence, and self-acceptance.

The goal of EMDR isn’t just coping—it’s deep healing and lasting transformation that helps you reclaim your strength, your peace, and your true self.
