Trauma/EMDR
On the outside, you may seem “fine.” You show up, get things done, and keep moving—but inside, it can feel like you’re barely holding it together. Fear, shame, looping thoughts, or a deep sense of worthlessness may leave you feeling stuck behind emotional walls that seem impossible to break through.

Understanding Complex Trauma (C-PTSD)
Complex trauma develops from prolonged or repeated experiences of harm—especially in relationships marked by abuse, neglect, manipulation, or emotional unavailability. Unlike a single traumatic event, C-PTSD often stems from ongoing situations that erode your sense of safety, worth, and identity.
Common sources include:
-
Childhood abuse or neglect: Physical, emotional, or sexual harm, or emotional needs that were never met.
-
Toxic or abusive relationships: Emotional, physical, or financial abuse—often with partners dealing with addictions or NPD.
-
Chronic invalidation or abandonment: Growing up or living with caregivers or partners who simply were not there for you or minimized or dismissed your feelings and needs.

Common symptoms may include:
-
Intense mood swings or emotional dysregulation
-
Persistent shame, guilt or low self-worth
-
Dissociation or emotional numbness
-
Difficulty trusting or connecting with others
-
Hypervigilance, nightmares or flashbacks
-
Disconnect from your needs, confidence and voice
-
Physical pain or health issues tied to emotional distress
You don’t have to keep carrying the weight of your past. With EMDR therapy, healing is not only possible—it’s within reach.
